Producing hydrogen from water becomes much much more efficient when most dissociation energy comes from heat instead of electricity . . . that profile works very well with off-shore nuclear power plants, where electricity is generated from heat to begin with. So instead of using that 30% efficient turbine to generate electricity and losing much of the electricity due to long distance transmission (in order to avoid the likes of the current Fukushima disaster being too close to major cities where electrcity is used), nuclear power generation can potentially be placed on remote islands, then let the heat and electricity generate hydrogen, which gets piped out or tankered out just like oil would be from offshore oil platforms.
