I never chime in about this type issue until now. Used to have a real good friend who quipped Oh I see it's no bodies fault, but some body elses. Why put it down on paper and not top off the fluid? It's an expensive hit for the INDI or you. He should have insurance for such, do you? I once did a stint in the Army 25 years as a pvt I made extra money at a gas station. Although a licensed aircraft mechanic, I put the wrong size filter on a car. The fresh oil left a trail. I followed the guy home via his credit card address, took the car back and fixed the problem. ot so simple in your case. since you both seem to respect each other perhaps something can be worked out. There is always small claims court. Here In KY thaqts only $1200, but a guy rebuilt my Dodge truck tranny 3 times w/o success (he was a drunk. I got my money back in small claims court. Perhaps he is willing to put another one in for free if you buy it or what ever.
