Appreciate all the inputs. In the final analysis, here are what stand out:
1. No one has convinced me that a transmission can last for 4000 miles with just 1/2 cup of oil. The mistake can not possibly be made by a previous oil change. (I remind you that this car does not leak oil)
2. Having a note saying "Transmission oil level low" on the invoice does nothing for anybody, including the Indie himself. Of course it is low, they drained it! If we really want to push the point, "level low" is a wrong statement. there is no oil.
3. The fact that the bolts are different received quite a bit of press. But it is only useful to argue in Saab's favor on their effort to prevent this mix-up from happening. In this case, it did happen, how different are the bolts is irrelevant.
4. On the customer-to-shop level, on the human relations level, would any of us let some one we have know for 7 years ruin their car or walk into on-coming traffic?
5. I thought that this could be worked out between reasonable and honorable people. I was being naive.
I did not contemplate legal action at all, not the slightest, not for a fraction of a second until now. But, it has become a possiblity.
