Get real Bruce. BMWs and Audis ride well and handle fine as does the 9-5. So don't blow off legitimate criticism of the 9-3's failings. I still love the but I desire SAAB's technical assistence in identifying modifications that will ameliorate the perceived handling deficiencies. SAAB's marketing brochures tout the car's safe handling and SAAB needs to get behind the "service" desk and offer a "fix". I could have bought a 00 Viggen for 31K but passed on it because the car is useless on course roadways without the Abbott aftermarket rescue package. After you tack on that amount the higher priced BMWs and Audis don't seem like such a bad deal. If SAAB desires to garner market share, it must maintain credibility with its loyal ownership base. We all love our SAABs, we would just love them more if they were a tad more "predictable" on pitted pavement.
Of course we could all dismiss such valid criticisms by putting on a macho air of denial and say that the SAAB rides good compared to my Destroer Escort in the roaring 40s on a SEATO submarine patrol in 40 foot seas. Yeah some crack pot (pun) made a remark about his lobster boat riding rough and that only whimps complained about the 9-3. Bottom line is SAAB could buy market share cheap by simply offering guidance to those of us who are willing to pay for at least part of the fix. Hell I just want their input. Are you telling me they have no frost heaves or pots holes in Sweden?
