Now, now, Claude - let's not get snippy.
The quality of the Viggen under power is not an issue in my book - in fact, it seems to handle better at speed. The firmness of the ride is of no concern either, since I don't find the suspension to be that firm anyway, and, as you mentioned, the seats are the best in the world. As well, while the unpredictability during hard accelleration is unfortunate, I think this is mainly a problem inherent in the limits of front wheel drive, and, as you pointed out, front wheel drive has its advantages (that's one of the main reasons I bought this car, btw). My problem isn't with the elements of the design that make the car perform well at speed, nor is it with any understandable trade-offs associated with these design decisions. My problem is with Saab's failure to stiffen the body and upgrade the suspension components to compensate for the added power and aggressive handling. They left that job to Abbott - and to us. When these problems are corrected, the car handles as it should - at any speed, under any condition. The Abbott kit isn't an upgrade, it's a repair.
Simply put, I disagree with your assertion that the alternative to the Viggen's setup is "de-sensitized" steering. A car's steering can be accurate without being overly sensitive. The Viggen's sensitivity to uneven pavement just isn't a necessary condition of performance handling - it's an indication of sloppy engineering.
And yes, I drive with both hands on the steering wheel.
