I agree with you on your points on Car & Driver. I subscribe to C&D, Motor Trend, and R&T. I have subcribed to C&D and R&T track for probably 5-6 years, whereas only 1-2 years on Motor Trend. I don't know why I do both C&D and R&T because they mirror each other's tests practically every month (maybe due to them being owned by the same people) - but I still enjoy them both. I do think their reviews are much more objective.

The complete opposite can be said about Motor Trend. It seems like every comparison that I've read ends up with some crazy "middle ground" statement like, "there all good cars with points that will appeal to just about everyone" -- seems like they never have the strength to pick a clear winner. I think that contradicts their logic behind the "Car of the Year" award. They have criticized certain magazines for not picking a clear winner every year (i.e. C&D and their 10 best lists) - yet, they can hardly pick a clear winner in any of their comparison tests!

Well, enough of my opinion, huh?
