As far as pricing goes, Saab isn't "that" much cheaper then the others.
The lease deals seem to be better on the Saabs, but price-wise they are close. A similarly featured Lexus IS300, is about the same as the 9-3 SE, and a little less then the Viggen, the 330 BMW is a little more then the 9-3 SE and close to the Viggen, and can be pushed even over the $45k mark if u get "everything"...the Audi is about the same as the 9-3SE and the S4 is similar in price the Viggen.
Anyway, my point is, that all these cars are very similar and even though we lease the 9-3 SE and I plan on playing with it, the others are at least as good or better then the Saab in many aspects. The Saab is a great all-around car, but I think the Audi is just as good or even better, especially in the bad weather.
We really wanted to get the Audi S4 but the lease was too much money. My mom is the one that drives this car and she Absoultely Loves and raves about it to everyone. I love it too, and I love how it has just enough turbo lag to make it fun, but its also such a small amount of lag, where if u r moving it'll spool right up.
Just wanted to give my 2 cents.
Saab should really try to market their cars a little better. I think one of the reasons people don't buy the cars is because of it's outdated styling, even if it's still attractive. It's a good car, rather great car, but people need to know it's there and ready to compete. There are a few updates that should be done to keep it up to par with its competitors, and it should have no problem coming out on top, even in those Car & Driver tests, it's just time Saab reads those tests and puts their heads together and make the great car they already have, the one to beat for time to come.
