My wife's saab rolled down a hill did a 180 and landed in a ditch (with the sh*tty parking brake on). The body shop fixed the bumper but would not replace the bent control arm because "we don't touch anything that is not body or paint related". That is only one shop, but I imagine the sentiment is universal. Body shops often repair many vehicle types, body repair doesn't take brand specific training like drive train repairs do. Sure oil is easy, but it violates the rule. I think your unknown oil history caught up with you at the same time your hood event occurred.
