Thanks and I don't necessarily mind the flames. However, I do find them puzzling. I mean, how many people do you see checking their oil when they change their gas nowadays? Hardly ANY. Why? The times and cars have changed. They are more reliable and people basically depend on the knowledge that they last changed their oil on XXX date and XXX mileage. They can assume the oil is OK because it generally will be if there are no known major leaks or burn.
Said it before and I'll say it again, it's true that 8 months is too long to not check and/or change the oil on any car. However it's not unheard of and it's not off the wall ridiculous. People do much worse with much worse cars and get away with it. However, if they are screwed at the lube place they probably won't and make suffer even more or earlier damage. That is where the blame rests here. Not on the customer, but on those doing the work. Their job when i pay them, not mine. They screw up, they should be held accountable in 8 days, 8 months, or even 8 years.
