The manufacturer and dealers (yes most contribute) looks at goodwill as goodwill. When an owner is loyal to a dealer they are more likely to go to bat for a customer. The reality is that the loyal owner has spent money at his store and is willing to contribute to keep him coming back. Same thing with the manufacturer. If someone goes to an indy and spends their money there, don't expect a dealer or a manufacturer to step up to the plate after the warranty expires. Many may agree or disagree but this is reality. Where is the benefit of going to a dealer...this is a great example. This will stir some people up but this is just fact. All autombile manufacturers do pretty much the same thing. Why should they help someone with repairs when they spend money elsewhere. Keep in mind that original owners will get more consideration because the manufacturer and dealer made money off that customer. Do you think that a second owner that just purchased an out of warranty car deserves much consideration? I don't think so. The manufacturer or dealer did not make a penny off this sale. Goodwill goes to the owner, not the car.
