Wait until you feel the interior of a new E-Class.
Unfortunately Mercedes has really droped the ball on quality, to keep its pricing competitive. quality goes well beyond looks. Remember, an 83 300SD Mecedes was nearly 45K back then - so it would be close to 90K today and that is without leather. there is no way any car company can squeeze either themselves or another supplier that much. Check out a MB service department to witness the horrors.
BMW is slowly going the same route, although their plastics are better, I do not think the overall quality is.
A good friends S80 T6 has spent more time at the dealer than his garage.
the guy down the street has an Acura TL. Beautifully constrcucted, but it does not have the same "heft" of a European car.
We just came out of a VW Passat, which has some of the best interior mterials, but the 9-5 is prety darn close.
As far as Saab itself, its still an offbeat car. It why I have always liked them, although this is the first one w owned. I do not see them on every corner, and yes, they aren't cheap for a 4-banger, but I see way to many 5 series, and E-Classes around my parts.
There are a lot of things, BTW that can crack an engine mount without causing any other damage. Like a pothole, hit at just the right frequency, etc.
