I'm not trying to knock the SP A-2 tires, since I have no experience with them. I'm sure they work fine for your Jetta (?yr, ?model). I just would never put them on my 9-5. Or my 900SET for that matter. The car was designed for use with V/Z (in the case of the Aero) rated tires for a reason. Why? Because it is a car that can sustain speeds over 130+mph. Most of the other Euro makes have governors-hence, the lower rated tires. VW Jettas, Passats, Audi A4s (not the S4), BMW 3 series (M3 has a higher governor), M-B C-class (not the AMG), etc have governors restricting their top speeds to 128-130mph. It's a liability as well as a safety concern, so they specify governors in order to use the lesser rated tires.
SAAB is probably the last Euro automaker that does not (yet) have governor restricted top speeds. So, they specify the higher speed rated tires on all their models. Hallelujah for that! :-)
But seriously, V rated tires can be found at the same prices as some H rated tires-if price is a concern. However, like I said before in my previous post-tires are the only thing keeping your precious $30-40k (depending on model) 9-5 on the road. Why people try to skimp on the most important part of your car is beyond me.
Now I'm not saying you have to buy the most expensive tire you can get. What I am saying is that you can get replacement OEM spec tires for the price of an H rated tire. So they wear a little faster. That just means they're doing their job, keeping you on the road whether it's dry and sunny or a storming deluge. It's all about traction.
To entrust the safety of yourself and your family to non OEM spec (read H rated) tires is definitely not smart.
'94 900SET w/124.6k miles
Z rated Michelin MXM (great treadlife for Z rated tire, way too $$ to replace, poor wet traction)
Z rated Pirelli P7000 Summer and Supersport (great price, poor treadlife, great wet traction)
Z rated Bridgestone S-02 Pole Positions (good price for performance, the best traction wet or dry-absolute best tire I've ever had)
'01 9-5 LPT wagon w/2.4k miles (still on original Michelin tires)
