" SAAB should market a car for under 25K with rear wheel drive powered by a non-turbo V-6. I think this is called a family sedan ie Passat, Accord, or Camry. "
These are all FWD, by the way. And remember, for the price of the aforementioned models, when fully equipped, you can get into a Saab.
Saab has always been FWD; if they were caving to marketing, they easily could've used the CTS' chassis - its available and good.
I, OTOH, would not drive an Acura or Audi - not only are they terribly unreliable (coilpacks for V and trannys for Acura), but I see them at every corner.
I got my Saab because it does represent a great value. It packages safety (most important for me), comfort, and performance, now with a healthy dose of style.
I believe those FX/Murano buyers are just looking for another SUV, one thats the hottest thing right now. If you ever see one loaded with stuff from the Garden Center (a bouquet of roses doesn't count), let me know. I'll have my 9-3's TRUNK full of plants and mulch.
