Well, I don't know who tells you that Saabs don't compete with BMWs and Audis, because they did for me. I was set to buy an Audi A4 1.8T. Then I drove the Saab 9-3SS. All told, when you match feature for feature, the 9-3SS and A4 are similarly priced -- give or take a grand. I also considered the Volvo S40/S60, a couple of Lexus, the Passat, BMW 3 series, and a variety of others. The new sedan wins for sporty performance.

I had always ignored Saabs because of what I perceived to be a hideous design with the hatch. This model brought me into the Saab fold. I am sure there are many, many, people like me - and the Saab sales numbers show it.

BTW: Happy with the result, 30 days later.
