Many thanks for all the kind (and even some of the not so kind) responses. I do know that I am in a SAAB nest -- that is why I wrote here to get the opinion of enthusiasts. The Acura part of my experiment (same letter to an Acura list) is less sucessful since they are not nearly so knowledgeable -- perhaps that says something.
Many (!) years ago we had a 99 and loved it but we were in Colorado so its superior winter performance was more important than it will be to me in my new home in NC!
As a aging early baby boomer, one important issue for me is the quality of headlights since I note slow (but sure) decrease in my night vision. A strong selling point for my wife and me as well are the HID lights in the Acura. What are you'all's experience with the lights in 9-5s? I currently have an Acura CL and the lights are/were substandard. Upgrading to some "whiter" PIAA bulbs (same wattage, but a bit more light it seems) has helped a bit, but lights do matter to us.
Cheers,
Tom
