Sorry, I have no idea what the hell that means, it just sounded amusing.
No, I don't use it for repairs, I use it as preventive maintenance. Having used it as a preventive item for over 50 K miles, adding 5 ounces every 6 months or so, coupled with flush & refill every one to two years, I have never needed any sort of work on the cooling system - no head gaskets, no heater cores, no water pumps, no nuthin' (except, of course, preemptive thermostat replpacement every couple of years, and hose replacenment every 100 K or so). I too did not believe in additives such as this, but Bob Davis convinced me otherwise, just as I have been convincing other people otherwise for the last few years.
There a few simple rules for effectively using Bar's Leaks: 1) Start with a good, clean, healthy cooling system. 2) Use only the liquid form in the silver bottle. 3) 5 fluid ounces every 6 months or 15000 miles (whichever comes first); add it to the reservoir, then immediately drive the car for at least half an hour. 4) Backflush and refill the system with premium coolant and water every year or two.
Bob and I - and many others - have never had so much as a heater core problem using Bar's Leaks this way as a regular preventive maintenance item, let alone head gasket or water pump problems. And no, never a clogged cooling system.
Stand corrected, sir!
