... do you want? In retrospect, I'm convinced that the previous owner treated my 91 like shit (pardon, but that's what I mean). I got the car at - allegedly - 67 K miles (not sure I beleive it). No, I can't prove that BL kept the cooling system safe, but between Bob Davis and me, we have many years and many tens of thousands of miles of use - and neither of us have ever had to do anything to the cooling system! Not even a 9000 heater core. That may not prove anything to you, but it does to me, whan I read of everyone else's cooling system woes.
We definitely agree on one thing: Trying to fix a neglected cooling system with Bar's Leaks is not good practice, although I do think it's definitely worth a shot, if everything else is done right - flush, refill, do the maintenance, all the sensible things.
I don't know if Saab honors its warranty if you use Bar's Leaks, but check this out: Robert has found that the following OEM's install Bar's Leaks in radiators at their factories:
Allis Chalmers (AGCO)
AM General (Hummer, etc.)
Carrier Transicold
Caterpillar (Canada and USA)
Cloverland (engine rebuilder)
Daimler-Chrysler (US, Canada, and International)
Engine Rebuilders (Canada)
Ford Motor Company (US, Canada, and International)
General Motors Corp. (US, Canada, and International)
Gopher Motors (engine rebuilder)
Isuzu (international)
Jaguar (international)
Komatsu (heavy duty)
Marshall (engine rebuilder)
Mitsubishi (international)
Navistar (International Harvester)
RB&W Logistics (industrial)
Subaru (international)
That list is a few years old; there may be more now. Hey, you have your success stories, we have ours. If you don't want to use Bar's Leaks, that's fine. I'm just telling you that you were out of line to bash it.
