Hey guys, I do searches of this nature myself to research products, but failing to find it on a manufacturer's website isn't a tragedy nor a deterent if other info is available. Try to research synthetic oil, for example. It is amazing what you won't find, like evidence to support manufacturers' claims. Check out the Mobil 1 site and try to find white papers or comparative tests on their oil versus other brands--and it is the same for all others I checked out except Royal Purple, who have such tests available if you dig deep enough. After that I searched their site for any reference to ATSM or ANSI: Zilch, nada. But this does not mean Mobil 1 is a bad product, and I think everyone will agree that it is quite the contrary based on their ~30-year production history, if nothing else. FWIW, BL has been on the market since 1947 and is the world's #1 stop-leak formula.
Because I find nothing on the BL and Mobil sites, should I then conclude that I should not use the product? Has it occurred to you that there might be tests that have been conducted and standards met which are not shown on their website or otherwise posted on the 'Net? I will call BL Monday and ask. Stay tuned.
I haven't seen you or another detractor address the fact that many OEM's install this product in their new vehicles. Bar's Leaks claims that 75% of all vehicles manufactured install it at their respective factories. Don't you feel the engineers and bean counters have a reason for imposing this added expense to their assembly line? To me, that and the Suzuki motorcycle requirement (mentioned earlier) was sufficient evidence to begin using the product. You guys are casting a blind eye to the obvious.
