I have all the test data I need right here in the real world. Sure if you have a cooling system in sorry condition from poor quality antifreeze or lack of service, the chances are your radiator has some restriction, especially on the OLD cars. The chances are if one of the many cooling tubes in the radiator is heavy restricted, the Bars will plug it up. This translates into reduced function if too many of the tubes plug up. However I have never witnessed it on the many times I have used it. Just last month, the radiator in my 84 blazer started leaking and caused the temp to near danger on the trip from home to shop. I endured the hassel for several trips and had to make a emergency stop at a grrocery store "closest place" to get a gallon of drinking water to add to the radiator to get home. I also bought a big bottle of Bars. It stopped the leak and I have made at least 5 trips scense. The Bars will hold off the leak till I can stuff a new radiator in. YES a New radiator as I cant see messing around with such a IMPORTANT part.
If you have a 9000 with a heater core leak, take the heater hose off the back of the head "The hose that faces the battery" and pour in whole bottle of Bars. I promise your heater core leak will be gone and no adverse reactions to heat or engine temp.
BTW, If you ever get a chance to see the repair manual for Jaguar engine, it states as part of the head gasket replacement process "add 1 bottle of Bars stop leak!"
