FWIW, I have had positive results with the High Mileage 10w40 in my '99 A4 1.8t. It's chipped (200hp, 250lb/ft) but no other mods. With 140k on it, oil consumption went from 1qt per 3,000 mile oil change to 1/4qt per 3,000 mile oil change. Decidedly quieter on startup, but not much else to report - I think that's a positive! I am thinking about switching my 250,000 mile SPG and 300,000 mile XR4Ti to it on their next change so I can keep fewer oils on hand... :) Believe it or not, the XR4Ti has done its 300k on nothing but Castrol GTX 10w30 since about 1989. The second turbo has about had it, but the original engine pulls like a train. I am leery of changing the formula, especially to something that costs twice as much, but maybe I can save some money on drums of 10w40. :)
