I want to thank all of you for your helpful insight and input on the 9000's reliability. I talked with my dad today about it and to my surprise, he already agreed that it would probably be a good car before I started citing all the examples that you provided me with! I cited them anyway, for good measure, of course, but it wasn't nearly as hard a sell as I anticipated.

The only problem is that the car I'm looking at is (as I think I said) it's halfway across the country. This is the part he's concerned with primarily, he said. He wants to know how to deal with getting the car, inspecting it, etc.--shipping up here will probably be on the tune of about $1k, but that's just a guess. He thinks that this is a major problem to overcome (and he's probably right) and that this is probably not the car we want. Also, when I mentioned getting rid of my car, he said, "Fine, but your car was two thousand less than you expect to pay for this one--where are you planning on finding the money?" This is also a valid point, but not unsurmountable.

He said we'd talk more about it later--he'd think about it. This is good, he didn't try to convince me it was a terrible idea with all his effort as he did with the other 9000 I found back in November (and he succeeded in convincing me it was a bad purchase... and that car was closer to us in Rhode Island!).

Any further thoughts? I really think I want to have the bigger, quieter ride that the 9000 affords. I want the four doors AND a hatch, especially, and since there's no 900 5-door here in the US that was made in the 1990's, the 9000's the only choice (aw, shucks! :)!

TIA,

Tim B.
