This is a good discussion.
Being the owner of a 88 900i 5dr and a 91 9000 se 5dr (both 112k on the clock) its a tough choice.
If you like individuality the 900 is the care for you. Also the car feels as if it was hewn from stone. The 9000 is far more refined and sporty and provides the same indestructable build quality.
In terms of maintainence the 9000 is in the lead over the the past 12 months. All the 9000 needed was a new exhaust,tyres and a new wiper blade. My 900 needed a new alternator,CV joints and brake canerpers.
My dad is a traditionalist and won't touch a 9000, despite is solid reliability record (About time he changed with the times).
