An owner of 640hp sportscar is far more likely to use the full power of the car than a the owner of a 200hp family sedan, for obvious reason. Why lug a 640hp electric motor around, with associated electric wiring for high current, when the planned use is average 16hp driving for an hour? or 32hp for half an hour? A conventional sportscar in the 500-700hp range can certainly deliver near full power for half an hour, as opposed to a minute or two for the electric Mini. Brake regeneration is far more relevant for low power application than for high power applications.

I have no idea what the Mini dream machine is: it's a hybrid and it has no ICE engine under the hood, and it can travel 1000 miles on one tank. Who knows, perhaps its a hybrid/symbiont with a flat bed truck, and we are only counting the cargo portion. LOL.
