I did not denigrate Mobil1 10W-30, I just stated it was inferior to Mobil1 0W-40, all other factors being equal. Do you claim that it's not? It's got both better low temp lubrication and better high temp lubrication. I did not sidestep the API/GILSAC issue, I just don't see the relevance since all the info I've found says it's lower spec than the ACEA ratings. It's hard to find solid info on this issue though.

My opinion is still that the websites are just not completely up to date. I'll go and look at a bottle when I get time and report back what it says.

As for the US driving oil technology I still disagree. American car owners usually change oil every 3k-5k miles and use dyno oil or semi-synth, whereas here the oil change interval is around 15k miles and you have to use semisynth/fully synth. Also the eco-taxes make it prohibitively expensive to change oil as often as you guys can.
